What if you found a way to stay FRONT of MIND but also helped grow your referrals and cross-sell opportunities to build customer retention?
Newsletters can help reinforce your value by sharing helpful tips, updates, and reminders about your services to your clients and even to your prospects (hopefully your future clients). Beyond mailed newsletters, you might also stay connected through an email campaign – they’re free, but can be impersonal.

Or you can offer social media engagement – like a birthday wish to clients.
Or you can even do a more personalized check-in – maybe a phone call to second tier VIP clients that you might not otherwise contact outside the regular service renewal contacts.
Simple check-ins like a text message, holiday cards, or a quick follow-up phone call after finishing a job, or even a thank you card – can add the extra “touch” that’s also an indirect marketing tool.

I recently added a client from Seattle who had me call his clients for a follow up support inquiry. Some businesses had still been receiving the emails even after they had closed their doors or sold or retired from the business.
The key is consistent, meaningful touch points that show clients they’re valued, not just when you need something from them.
Regular communication builds trust, keeps clients informed, and creates natural opportunities for repeat business, referrals, and cross-selling by keeping you FRONT OF MIND without a pushy sales technique.
I don’t claim to know everything about marketing but I am willing to learn from my own clients and other long-term business owners.
